Steinfield hasn’t been opposed to putting in the work for her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Hawkeye. She’s been training, practicing archery, and also bringing depth to her performance on camera in order to make sure she brings Kate Bishop to life as best she can. Steinfield is known for roles in projects such as Arcane, Dickinson, Pitch Perfect 3, and Bumblebee.

While there aren’t details on how significant Pugh’s role as Yelena Belova will be in Hawkeye, the post-credits scene of Black Widow indicated she will arrive seeking revenge on Clint Barton, whom she believes is responsible for the death of Natasha Romanoff. However, Steinfeld recently discussed a scene that she shot involving both Kate Bishop and Yelena, presumably marking the first meeting between the two characters in the MCU. During an interview with Cosmopolitan, Steinfeld said of her time with Pugh, “We had a moment together where we were shooting and something went wrong… There was no recovery from it. I started laughing so hard that somebody thought I was crying - I don’t know what that says about my laugh - and I just remember a flood of people rushing in and being like, ‘Is everyone okay?’ And I’m literally facedown on the ground, just hysterically laughing. Mind you, we were in a scene that was in no way, shape, or form meant to be at all funny. We really did have a wonderful time together.”

She then went on to humorously discuss how it was working with the dog who plays Lucky the Pizza Dog. “Kate [Bishop] and Lucky are pretty much on this journey together. The real dog who plays Lucky - his name is Jolt - got me thinking I needed to get Martini in training,” the actress said, referring to her own pet. “I was saying to Jolt’s handler, ‘I would love for Martini to know ‘sit’ and ‘come’ and whatever.’ And he was like, ‘‘Leave her with me for two weeks and I’ll have her doing what Jolt’s doing.’ And I was like, ‘First of all, I’m not leaving her with anyone for two weeks. Thank you very much.’”

It’s always good when an actor gets to enjoy their time on these superhero productions. Many times it seems like these projects require a great deal of work to be done and don’t always have the easiest of schedules. So it’s nice to see Steinfeld really enjoyed herself during the filming of Hawkeye.

Steinfield’s character has also received a lot of praise from those who were able to see a few episodes of the series early. Hopefully, fans will see the same thing when the show is released. Hawkeye will be here before fans know it, right before the wildly anticipated Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Hawkeye is coming to Disney Plus on November 24th, 2021.
