Under-12 Finals
Akarsh Gaonkar (3) Highest ranked player(AITA) in the tournament emerged as the winner in Under-12 Boys category.He beat Rahul Pamei 4-6, 6-0, 6-4 . He did lose the first set 4-6 but came back with an outstanding performance and won the second set 6-0. Akarsh easily handled the decider set too and did win it 6-4.
In the Girls U-12 category, Rutuja Chaphalkar beat second seed Vaishnavi Adkar 21 6-4, 6-0 to claim the title. Rutuja was too strong for her opponent, overwhelming her with her good serve and strokes.
Under-14 Finals
Second seed Sruthi P claimed the winner’s trophy in the Girls Under-14, after overcoming the challenge of first seed Mekhala Manna, winning 6-3, 6-2. Throughout the match Sruthi didn’t show any weaknesses and overwhelmed her opponent completely.
R S Rajesh Kannan produced an aggressive performance to down Yashraj Dalvi in straight sets. Rajesh’s serve was on point throughout the match which did trouble Yashraj sometimes.Rajesh easily won the final affair in straight sets creating a scoreline 6-1, 6,2.
Roshni Nadar Malhotra, Executive Director and CEO of HCL Corporation along with Mahesh Bhupathi Managing Director of Mahesh Bhupathi Tennis Academies and 12 time Grand Slam Champion felicitated the winners.
The four winners (boys and girls in the U/12 and U/14 categories) of the HCL Tennis Junior Tour & Masters will be sent for an all-expense paid one-week training program to the RafaNadal Academy in Spain. The runners-up will be sent to an all-expense paid two-week training program to Mahesh Bhupathi Tennis Academies’ high-performance centre in Kochi.
