Quinlan, who describes himself as a gamer, says that he realized loot boxes were a serious problem when he saw the Star Wars Battlefront 2 controversy plastered all over Reddit. Quinlan hopes the ESRB and the game industry will self-regulate loot boxes, suggesting that restricting loot box video games to those 21 and over may be a necessary step. This could result in the creation of a brand new video game rating that could hugely limit the sales potential of games that use loot boxes....

Set during the holiday season, Hawkeye opens with Clint Barton sending some overdue quality time with his children in the Big Apple. Of course, his Christmas vacation is interrupted by a series of events that find Kate Bishop donning and being spotted in the Ronin outfit, which Barton wore during his time as a ruthless vigilante after his family was wiped away from existence by Thanos and before they were brought back along with everyone else in Avengers: Endgame....

Hawkeye’s season finale helped wrap up the year for Marvel Studios in exciting fashion, as most Disney Plus shows tend to do, but one insightful animator recently shared an exclusive take into what the series’ real post-credits sequence was supposed to look like. Of course, Hawkeye still brought plenty of shock and awe to the MCU, not in small part thanks to Vincent D’Onofrio’s triumphant return as Kingpin, as well as setting up the future for characters like Kate Bishop and Maya Lopez....

Before Hawkeye premiered on Disney+, Marvel Studios announced a spin-off series called Echo about Alaqua Cox’s character Maya Lopez, who was teased at the end of the second episode. The prologue of the third episode, aptly titled “Echoes,” acts as sort of a backdoor pilot for this spin-off, detailing Echo’s origin story. From the offset, Lopez is a sympathetic villain. Well-developed villains are rare in the MCU, and villains that the audience can relate to are even rarer....

In an early scene in the fourth episode of Hawkeye, “Partners, Am I Right?”, Clint has a poignant chat with Kate’s mom, Eleanor. While Kate has expressed nothing but enthusiasm about her burgeoning superhero career, Eleanor begs Clint to cut her out of his latest case. She wants to save her daughter from a life of constant danger and even brings up the dark pit in Clint’s soul, Natasha Romanoff’s death....

In a new Hawkeye featurette released by Marvel Studios, Renner and Steinfeld are not working together, but are instead pitted against each other in an interesting competition. With different games involved, the two strive to earn the most points and win the title of the best archer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Like everything else this season for Miami, the last shot didn’t go according to plan. According to The Wrap, Warner Bros. approved the Snyder Cut of Justice League so long as no new footage is recorded with the film’s cast. Snyder and his team will have to use only his previously recorded footage for the film. By all accounts, however, there’s more than plenty to work with. The Last of Us fans received exciting news today when it was announced that Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin would be working with the game’s writer and creative director Neil Druckmann to develop an HBO series based on the critically acclaimed game. This news comes amidst the hype for the highly anticipated The Last of Us 2 set to release later this year. The show is expected to be an adaptation of the plot of the first game, which follows the grizzled protagonist, Joel, in his journey across a post-apocalyptic America accompanied by Ellie, a young girl who may hold the key to curing the plague that led to the downfall of civilization....

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery players have four different pets to choose from: a cat, a rat, an owl, or a toad. The selection lines up with established Harry Potter canon, and reflects the type of pets owned by main characters in the books. In the books, Hermione adopts a cat, Ron brings his hand-me-down pet rat Scabbers along with him, Neville Longbottom has a toad (that he often loses track of), and of course, Harry is gifted Hedwig the owl from Hagrid when the two visit Diagon Alley together for the first time....

At the time of this writing, it’s unclear if the House Cup leaderboard in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery features randomly generated names or if developer Jam City handcrafted the list themselves, though they appear to be randomly generated. Regardless, some celebrity names have been discovered among the huge list of Hogwarts students, including the likes of Emma Watson and Owen Wilson. Reddit user GyzmoGER discovered that Hollywood actor Owen Wilson could be found on his Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery game....

As always, December will bring a two-part Brilliant Event for players to work through (the first half is already underway) and there will be a full daylong Community Day event, as well. After that things start to look a little different than a typical month, with the usual Wizarding Weekend replaced by a special 12 Tasks of Christmas event which will span the end of December through the beginning of the New Year in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite....
